Guide
Everything you need to know to get a canvas that looks as good on the wall as it does on your phone. Short version: use the original photo and let us check the size.

Use the photo straight from your camera roll. Photos saved from Facebook, Instagram or a text message get shrunk and lose detail, which shows up on a big canvas.
Print size depends on pixels. A good rule: 75+ pixels per inch looks good on canvas, 120+ looks crisp. Here's what that means for common photos:
| Photo size | Pixels | Prints great up to |
|---|---|---|
| 12 MP (most phones) | 4032 × 3024 | 48×32″ |
| 8 MP | 3264 × 2448 | 36×24″ |
| 3 MP | 2048 × 1536 | 24×16″ |
| 1 MP | 1200 × 900 | 16×12″ |
You don't have to do this math: our site grades every size Sharp, Good, Softer or Blurry for your exact photo.
Phone photos are usually 4:3, while canvas sizes like 24×36″ are 3:2. When the shape doesn't match, something gets trimmed. Our proof shows exactly what's trimmed and suggests the closest-fitting size, or lets you fit the whole photo instead.
A canvas wrap is stretched over 1.5″ bars. Mirrored edges keep your whole photo on the front. A floating frame adds a pecan, black or white frame for a gallery look.
Look it over, then approve. We print exactly what you approved, and you can cancel for a full refund until printing starts.
Upload the original photo, pick a size the photo can print sharp at, choose a canvas wrap or floating frame, approve the proof and order. PhoneToCanvas does all of this from your phone.
About 75 pixels per inch at the final size looks good, 120+ is crisp. A 12 MP phone photo prints sharp up to 48×32″.
Upscaling apps can help a little, but the best fix is the original file. If a photo is small, choose a smaller canvas: our site shows the biggest size that stays sharp.
Pick a photo, see it on a wall, approve the proof. That's it.
